Job Overview

Amerex Group is seeking a passionate and talented Assistant Designer to support the design and development of our outerwear collections. The ideal candidate will assist in all phases of product development and requires proficiency in design software and a passion for the creative process.

Duties

  • Design & Development : Assist in creating seasonal product lines by preparing SKU plans, technical sketches, and tech pack s (BOMs).
  • Trend & Market Research : Conduct fashion trend analysis, develop color and trend reports, and attend trade shows to collect fabrics and trims.
  • Technical Execution : Proficiently sketch in Adobe Illustrator, preparing tech pack and Bill of Materials.
  • Fit & Production Oversight : Attend fit sessions, provide comments and corrections, and update tech packs accordingly. Review and approve fabric qualities, lab dips, and trims. Communicate with mills, vendors, and factories to monitor sample development. Oversee the proto and sample approval process, ensuring production readiness.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration : Work closely with design, technical, merchandising, sales, and production teams to bring concepts to life.
  • Presentation & Merchandising : Prepare CADs, seasonal line sheets, and sales presentations.

Qualifications & Requirements :

  • 1-3 years of apparel design experience, preferably in outerwear.
  • Degree in Fashion Design, Apparel Design, or related field.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop) and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).
  • Strong understanding of garment construction, fabric properties, color theory, and fit principles.
  • Ability to translate ideas into technical sketches and detailed specifications.
  • Experience with performance materials, insulation, and waterproof technologies is a plus.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Positive attitude, adaptable, and a proactive problem solver.
  • Ability to travel occasionally for sourcing, vendor meetings, or trend research.
