Job Purpose
In this role you will be responsible for planning and coordinating the Prototype Fixture Design phase of New Model projects. You will design prototype parts, fixtures and wind tunnel models to ensure the quality of the prototype vehicle and work with design and test associates to solve problems and develop countermeasures.
Key Accountabilities
Design prototype parts, fixtures, tooling and models used in the prototype process.
Confirm design quality with fabrication associates during layout check review events.Research prototype design techniques and equipment to improve the build process.Develop skills and expertise in prototype design & materials and train other associates.New Model Project ManagementEvaluate project scope, determine resources required and coordinate schedules.
Coordinate technical support for new development or research projects.Research prototype equipment and facility investments to support long-term strategy.New Model Troubleshooting & Problem SolvingAnalyze Catia design data and part quality to identify and solve potential problems.
Evaluate Honda Engineering Standards and design specification applications.Work with design and test associates to solve problems and propose design changes.Utilize prototype expertise to design tools or parts to improve performance / accuracy.Qualifications, Experience, And Skills
Bachelor's degree in science / engineering or equivalent experience.3 years related design work experience.High attention to detail.Excellent communication skills.Project management experience.Problem-solving skills.Advanced knowledge of vehicle construction and assembly.Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing.Advanced CATIA V5 and V6 operation.Basic electrical and mechanical skills.Proficient with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).Working Conditions
