JOB TITLE : DIRECT SUPPORT PROFESSIONAL 3

Position Description :

The purpose of the Direct Support Professional 3 (DSP 3) position is to provide support, to staff providing direct care to developmentally disabled adults in their home and community. This includes; scheduling the staff assigned to the consumer, managing the authorized hours for each consumer in the SLS program. Providing supervision to the DSP’s supporting the consumers in the following areas; personal care, light housekeeping, recreational activities, transportation, meal preparation, community access and other duties as outlined in the Individual Service Plan (ISP). The Direct Support Professional 3 (DSP 3) will ensure that the DSP’s implement the consumer’s vision and choices as stated in the ISP. The Direct Support Professional 3 (DSP 3) shall be aware that FUTURE TRANSITIONS, INC., is an At-Will employer, meaning that the employer or employee with or without cause, adhering to the laws governing employee / employer relationships, may terminate employment at any time. The DSP will understand that Future Transitions Inc has an obligation to the clients we serve and due to their vulnerability, the DSP’s employment is contingent on a successful completion of a background check, Live Scan and DMV report.

Qualifications and Requirements

Education and Experience :

  • BA / BS or equivalent, or 1-2 years supervisory experience or three (3) or more years of experience providing care for adults with developmental disabilities or three (3) or more years of experience with seniors in a human service field.
  • The ability to work and communicate effectively with people of diverse cultures, education, social, and economic backgrounds.
  • The ability to work in a team centered environment and take directions and make mature judgments.
  • Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel spreadsheets and agency specific programs e.g. scheduling programs etc.
  • Excellent organizational skills as well as excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Prior experience in scheduling staff preferred.
  • Must have the ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with Administration.
  • Must be able to work flexible days including weekends.

Transportation :

a. Valid California driver’s license.

b. Driving record for the past 7 years (DMV printout required yearly).

c. Current vehicle registration and use of a vehicle in good running condition during shift hours.

d. Valid automobile insurance for that vehicle and all passengers, with employee listed on the policy (new verification required at the expiration of the policy).

Other :

a. Current CPR and First Aid Certification for adults and children.

b. Cell phone with data plan and app capabilities.

c. Successful completion of Live Scan criminal background check through fingerprint clearance. Employment will be contingent upon the background check results.

d. The willingness and ability to perform all the essential functions of the job.

e. The ability to work collaboratively with consumers and co-workers.

f. An employment record of punctuality, good work attendance and reliability.

g. You must complete an I-9 and show valid proof of eligibility to work in the U.S.

Pay Range : $22.50 - $23.50 Hourly
