Position OverviewMxD is currently seeking an IoT Solutions Architect Engineer. This position will report to the Manager, Systems Integration Engineer. You will become part of the team responsible for assessing America's government-owned manufacturing facilities (known as the Organic Industrial Base "OIB") for developing strategies that integrate hardware, software, networks, and data storage that align with the opportunities at multiple facilities. Additionally, serve as an advocate and spokesperson, communicating the future state of digital manufacturing to MxD members and partners.
The IoT Solutions Architecture Engineer will meet with OIB stakeholders to educate them on what an IoT Solution is and then identify opportunities that are developed into projects, scoped, and prioritized at their facilities, ultimately leading to implemented solutions. They will be responsible for translating stakeholder needs into new project requirements for Requests for Proposals and Requests for Quotations, as well as reviewing technical deliverables for new and existing projects at OIB facilities.
Candidates must have experience and practical knowledge in the areas of system design and integration, wired and wireless networks, cybersecurity, data management, and a basic understanding of manufacturing and the challenges associated with modernization. Ideal candidates will have experience working with the Department of Defense and other government stakeholders.
Position ResponsibilitiesBe able to describe what IoT Architecture encompasses, how to assess opportunities, and steps to implement and sustain solutionsAssess manufacturing operations and apply root cause analysis for modernization opportunities and recommend solutionsCreate and update technical documents, including manuals, reports, and presentationsAptitude to consult with members and government stakeholders on IoT Solutions Architecture, especially for providing solutions to specific OIB opportunitiesProvide IoT Solution Architecture solutions to existing real-life problems as requiredGenerate project requirements for industry Requests for Proposals (RFPs)Present and provide expertise for MxD and industry forums, webinars, and other venues related to modernizationProject manage the progress of projects and other key deliverablesInterface with MxD commercial and academic members on project design and implementation as well as industry expertsDevelop ROM (Rough order Magnitude) and detailed budgets for the design and implementation of IoT Solutions for various use cases and projectsPosition RequirementsMinimum of 6 year experience in Engineering or related field required.Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field required.Strong interpersonal and presentation skills; excellent analytical and problem-solving skills along with excellent communication and negotiation skillsAbility to interface with the stakeholders of all levels at OIB facilities, including floor operators, plant management, and uniformed military officersCritical thinking and problem-solving skills; ability to answer process and technology-related questions on the flyAbility to develop budgets for the design and implementation of IoT or modernization solutionsHands-on, team-oriented, and committed to the advancement of manufacturing technologies in the U.S.Ability for travel up to 30%Ability and desire to work in a highly dynamic environmentMust be available to work onsiteHow to Apply
