POSITION OVERVIEW :
Facilities Management is a department within University Services responsible for all buildings, grounds, and energy management needs of the University of Minnesota Twin Cities campus. It aims to provide a safe, reliable, and welcoming campus supporting the university's mission of teaching, research, and outreach. The department manages over 25 million square feet across more than 280 buildings on 1200 acres.
Landcare, a unit within Facilities Management, handles campus design and maintenance. This position involves designing landscaping projects, managing installations, coordinating mitigation and restoration activities, managing assets, and supervising student assistants.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Assists in developing conceptual designs, detailed plans, specifications, quantity take-offs, cost estimates, and budgets. Negotiates with clients regarding design and budget.
Schedules resources, solicits bids, purchases materials, provides field direction, and inspects work for compliance.
Collaborates on campus protection, inspects sites, coordinates restoration, and ensures standards compliance.
Processes field data, develops maps, and assists with plant replacements and management plans.
Trains, schedules, and oversees students in department procedures and standards.
Qualifications
Required : Accredited degree in landscape architecture, two years of project design experience, proficiency in AutoCAD, ArcMap, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office.
Preferred : Four years of site / landscape project experience and professional registration as a landscape architect.
Pay and Benefits
Pay Range : $24.03 - $36.06 / hr, depending on qualifications.
Position Type : 100% appointment, Civil Service.
