Job Description

What your day looks like

Start your shift by joining Tier Meetings and putting the Pactiv Business System (PBS) into practice — A3 thinking, 5S, Standard Work, and structured problem solving set the tone. From there, you’ll move between thermoforming and packaging lines, tackling complex diagnostics, fine-tuning instrumentation, and restoring equipment to peak performance. You’ll interpret drawings and schematics, verify calibrations, and apply PDCA to drive issues to true root cause while protecting uptime and product quality.

Your influence is felt across the plant : you mentor technicians and operators, author and revise procedures, steward engineering documentation, and coordinate contractors so scheduled and unscheduled downtime is minimized. You lead by example in a zero-incident EHS culture — responding to unsafe conditions immediately, participating in investigations, and turning near misses into teachable moments.

Core responsibilities

  • Engage in Tier Meetings and use PBS tools (A3, 5S, Standard Work, Problem Solving) to drive continuous improvement.
  • Serve as the technical resource for maintenance and production on thermoforming and packaging equipment issues.
  • Monitor, adjust, calibrate, and repair manufacturing equipment, instruments, and fixtures.
  • Troubleshoot production machinery and restore reliability quickly.
  • Apply knowledge of AC / DC circuitry, hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical systems.
  • Read and interpret drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, and specifications.
  • Stay current with modern automation and control methods; leverage them to improve performance.
  • Use PDCA to eliminate root causes, prevent recurrence, and improve operations.
  • Provide technical support that lifts Overall Equipment Efficiency (OEE).
  • Create and update procedures and work instructions.
  • Champion a zero EHS incident culture; investigate events, identify preventive actions, and act on unsafe conditions immediately.
  • Train personnel across all levels of the organization.
  • Supervise contractors to limit both planned and unplanned downtime.
  • Own engineering documentation : procedures, manuals, drawings, and as-built change records.
  • Maintain excellent housekeeping to ensure a safe, clean work environment.
  • Work flexibly — including weekends / holidays — and participate in on-call coverage.
  • Collaborate effectively in peer and cross-functional (vertical) teams.
  • Extrusion experience is a plus.

What you bring

  • Strong PLC troubleshooting capability.
  • Hands-on mechanical troubleshooting proficiency.
  • Expert electrical troubleshooting skills.
