Role and Responsibilities
Truck drivers are responsible for driving a commercial vehicle for extended hours to deliver and received cargo safely and efficiently while abiding by traffic laws and ensuring safe unloading / loading and delivery at their destination. In-depth training may be required to prepare a Truck Driver for their daily duties. The essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to :
- Map delivery routes to ensure timely deliveries.
- Responsible for safely securing cargo and properly arranging and balancing it within the vehicle.
- Transport load to assigned destination.
- Ensuring any mechanical issues with the vehicle are corrected before driving.
- Obtain signatures or warehouse scans to confirm and complete deliveries with customers.
- Perform inspections of the vehicle prior to and following each trip and ensure assigned tractor and tailer are well-maintained and in safe operating condition. Advising supervisor of any necessary maintenance, repair, or safety concerns as necessary.
- Maintaining all DOT logs and following all DOT regulations.
- Adhere to company policies and procedures.
- Obey all applicable traffic laws and drive safely according to the weather / road conditions.
- Communication professionally with all customers, other employees, and supervisors.
- Always make safety a priority.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be willing to learn and improve to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.High school diploma or GED required. Adequate work experience may be substituted in lieu of diploma or GED.Valid Class B commercial driver’s license.Proven work experience as a commercial truck driver.No recent moving or driving violations.Preferred Skills
Ability to drive long hours.Good organization skills while maintaining proper delivery paperwork and driver logs.Experience operating warehouse equipment, such as electric lifts, hand trucks, and pallet jacks is an advantage.Must be dependable, hardworking and an effective communicatorAbility to lift up to 50 poundsMust be able to work overtime as neededAdditional Notes
All drivers are subject to DOT background checks and drug testing.Satisfactory pre-employment drug testing is required.All applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S.Applicant must have a negative COVID-19 test no more than 5 days prior to beginning work on site.COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
