Job Description & Requirements Specialty : Med Surg Discipline : RN Start Date : 11 / 18 / 2025 Duration : 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift : 12 hours, nights Employment Type : Travel Job Description American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med / Surg unit position with 12-hour night shifts and strong Med / Surg experience required. Responsibilities Work on the Medical 3rd floor of a hospital, which is a Level III Trauma Center with 145 beds Unit specializes in acute care for medically stable patients with a 40-bed capacity Patient population includes medical cases such as COPD, CHF, emphysema, CAD, DM, ETOH withdrawal, dementia, kidney failure, sepsis, UTI, GI bleeds, wounds, and occasional surgical cases Stroke Certified Unit with both medical and some post-surgical patients Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1 : 5-6 Support includes 6-8 RNs, 4-6 CNAs, up to 2 shift supervisors, a Health Unit Clerk (day shift), and 24 / 7 hospitalist and RT presence Uses Meditech for EMR, Baxter IV pumps, Pyxis for medication dispensing, and Voalte for communication 12-hour night shifts (1930-0700); 36 hours per week Rotational scheduling with 6 weekend shifts every 6 weeks; weekends for night shift are Friday and Saturday Floating required to Med / Surg combo (Surgical and Oncology), ED boarders, and Progressive Care Unit for medical overflow First-time travelers with strong experience will be considered One day of general orientation including Meditech training, plus 12-hour acute care unit orientation and cross-training to 2nd Surgical Unit May have primary patient care for 1-2 patients in assignment Bedside shift report and hourly rounding are required; white boards used in all rooms Must work 1-2 holidays during the winter assignment; night shift observes Eve as holiday, day shift observes day of holiday Clean scrubs required with no color restrictions and no restrictions on hair color, tattoos, or piercings Free parking is available with shuttle service during winter months Potential for contract extension or full-time conversion Requirements Active RN license in MT or Compact state Minimum of 1 year of strong, broad Med / Surg experience required Current certifications : Basic Life Support (BLS) and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Skills in epidural / PCA / medication management, drain / ostomy management, chest tubes, wound care, general post-surgical recovery, and post-op ortho Experience using Meditech EMR preferred Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-625793.
