Responsibilities
Under the general supervision of the Telecommunications Systems Operations Supervisor I (TSOS I), the Telecommunication Systems Technician II (TST II) is responsible for responding to and resolving public safety communications problems for State Agency clients. The TST II will also functionally report to the assigned shop lead as required. The duties are performed by following FCC rules and regulations, utilizing at a minimum, office-provided training, complex test equipment, computers, hand tools, the Telecommunications Division Manual (TDM), and technical literature. Incumbent will communicate effectively on all written and verbal interactions, frequently interfacing with customers and co-workers to resolve issues and collaborate. The TST II will maintain a professional and team-centered environment by establishing and maintaining effective working relationships. Incumbent will work proficiently with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Outlook, and Excel. Travel to and working in remote locations, high elevations, and inclement weather conditions may be required.
Requirements / Qualifications
Travel to and working in remote locations, high elevations, and inclement weather conditions may be required. DMV Pull Program participation is required. The position requires a valid Driver's License (DL). You must answer the questions addressing your DL on your application. Ensure you provide your DL number, class, expiration date, and any endorsements and / or restrictions. Proficiency with Microsoft Office products is expected.
Working Conditions
In Office : This position supports and manages the day-to-day business operations for Cal OES which is handled in an office location. This is not considered a hybrid telework position.

The Logistics Directorate is responsible for a wide variety of Cal OES functions, including asset management, fleet administration, facilities management, information technology systems, warehousing, forms and records management, mail operations, copy service center, green programs, and emergency and disaster logistics.
In the event of an emergency, employees may be contacted and requested to report to work in the event of an emergency. This contact may be outside of your normal working hours (evenings / nights, weekends, and holidays). This service may require irregular work hours, work locations other than the official duty location, and may include duties other than those specified in your official position description. Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and you may be required to relocate to emergency sites.
