Overview

The Disabled Veterans' Outreach Program (DVOP) Specialist supports veterans and eligible spouses by providing outreach, case management, and placement services in accordance with federal priorities. The position is located at the CareerSource Brevard Flagler Volusia Career Center in Palm Bay, FL.

Responsibilities

  • Consult with federal, state, and local officials on matters related to serving DVOP participants.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments and develop individualized employment plans for veterans and spouses with Significant Barriers to Employment.
  • Provide case management, group career counseling, and individualized career planning to facilitate long-term employment and self-sufficiency.
  • Evaluate community organizations and leverage assets to mitigate individual barriers.
  • Coordinate with the VA Intensive Service Coordinator to provide VR&E services for special "Disabled Veterans."
  • Record accurate case management activities and maintain compliance with Department of Commerce information systems.
  • Analyze program data, review reports, and recommend improvements in compliance with state and federal statutes.
  • Mentor new DVOP specialists, VA Work Study students, and SkillBridge interns on procedures and reports.
  • Provide outreach to local colleges, technical training centers, apprenticeship programs, and community-based organizations to identify veterans with SBEs and refer them to the DVOP Specialist.

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications :

  • Level 2 security background screening with fingerprinting.
  • Documentation : DD Form 214 and / or current VA / Defense letter reflecting discharge character.
  • Completion of the National Veterans Training Institute "Jobs for Veterans State Grant" within 18 months.
  • Certification as a Workforce Professional Tier 1 within one year.
  • Local travel and own transportation.
  • Preferred qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Professional or non-professional experience in employment security, administrative, or reemployment assistance policy.
  • Pay

    $55,000 annually.
