Emergency Medicine Opening in Sault Ste. Marie, MI Newer emergency department (renovated / expanded in 2017) with 18 beds. Annual volumes in the range of 16,000. Solo physician coverage with advanced practitioner support from 10 AM to 10 PM each day. Shifts from 7 AM to 7 PM and 7 PM to 7 AM with small overlap on each shift change to make sure appropriate hand-off is conducted. A separate walk-in clinic is across the street and staffed by a NP or PA from 9 AM until 7 PM. Excellent relationships with tertiary hospitals for transfers. Strong specialist support available, including psychiatry. Trauma team available and required to be on-site within 20 minutes. Community Hospital is located in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan.
