About The Position

Must-Have : Must pass a skills exam during orientation and possess a valid driver's license.

Description :

This role requires the RN to work in a stepdown unit.

Candidates should be flexible and adaptable.

Strong communication skills are essential.

The average daily census is 24 patients.

Staffing ratios are 1 : 4-5.

Common patient diagnoses include cardiac, renal failure, and stroke.

RNs are required to titrate drips including Heparin and Insulin.

Each shift has a Charge Nurse who does take an assignment.

The unit has nurse aides with a patient ratio of 1 : 12.

RNs must read and interpret telemetry strips.

Weekend and holiday rotations are required.

Floating to med-surg or ICU to care for stepdown patients may be necessary.

The dress code is navy blue scrubs.

The unit focuses on patient experience and communication regarding medications.

A successful nurse on this unit is a team player and open to feedback.

A diverse patient population is served on this unit.

Time off requests must be submitted upfront.

Cancelling of shifts may occur according to hospital policy.

The charting system used is EPIC.
