Basic Job Qualifications :

• Education : Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
• Certifications : CompTIA Network+, Microsoft Certified : Windows Server Fundamentals, or RHCSA (Red Hat Certified System Administrator).
• Core Technical Skills :
• Systems Administration (RHEL and Windows) : Experience administering RHEL-based systems (e.g., RHEL 8 / 9, Fedora); command-line proficiency in Bash scripting; package management with YUM / DNF; configuration and management of RHEL services (Systemd, Apache, Nginx, PostgreSQL, MySQL, LDAP); knowledge of SELinux, firewalld, and security management; Windows Server environments with Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, IIS; familiarity with PowerShell for automation; experience with Windows file systems, backups, and restoration.
• Networking : Understanding of IP addressing, subnetting, VLANs, VRFs, routing, and switching; configuration of routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs; experience with TCP / IP, DNS, DHCP, NTP; basic network monitoring tools (ping, traceroute, netstat, Wireshark); experience configuring network interfaces, firewalls, and routing tables on both RHEL and Windows.
• Virtualization and Infrastructure : Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware vSphere, Hyper-V, or KVM); familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) for Linux-based environments.
• Storage : Experience with XFS NAS configuration and maintenance (e.g., TrueNAS); administering a NAS in a virtualized environment.
• Security Basics : Knowledge of basic network and system security practices (firewalls, VPNs, user authentication); familiarity with securing systems using firewalld (RHEL) or Windows Firewall; understanding of LDAP, Kerberos, Active Directory; securing remote access (SSH for Linux, RDP / WinRM for Windows); PKI management.
• Problem-Solving Skills : Strong troubleshooting for Linux and Windows, diagnosing network issues, hardware failures, and service outages; ability to resolve connectivity issues in a multi-platform environment; ability to test and validate complex solutions in production.
• Automation & Scripting : Experience writing basic Bash, PowerShell or Python scripts to automate routine tasks; basic understanding of automation tools like Ansible, Packer, and Terraform.
• Soft Skills : Excellent communication for documenting configurations, troubleshooting guides, and policies; ability to collaborate with Software Factory, Information Assurance, Development Teams; ability to mentor junior staff and help manage tasks for a small team.
• Experience : 8-10 years of hands-on experience with system and network administration.
