Buena Vista University is excited to invite applications for adjunct faculty positions for our growing CACREP-accredited, digitally delivered Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program, with an expected start date of January 2026 and beyond. BVU offers three student enrollment periods per year, synchronous and asynchronous classes, as well as two required in-person residences during the program of study.
Primary Responsibilities :
- Teach a course(s) in an online format (i.e., asynchronous and synchronous instructional) focused on core, specialized, and clinical practice in clinical mental health counseling.
- Engage students during the week, record supplemental information via Canvas Studio, guide asynchronous and live synchronous discussions and groups.
- Meet with students as needed to support their learning.
- Provide supplemental teaching materials (ability to organize, analyze, and present knowledge or materials) to respond to student needs.
- Adhere to all ethical standards, state laws, and international regulations.
- Demonstrate a commitment to supporting students with diverse learning styles.
- Manage course content on the Canvas course website.
- Respond promptly to student emails.
- Compile, administer, and grade written assignments, projects, and examinations through Canvas, Tevera, and other software that supports digital learning.
- Remain current with new trends and developments in the field of clinical mental health counseling and related ethics and legal issues.
- Engage in ways that embody the mission, vision, and values of Buena Vista University and the CMHC program.
Minimum Qualifications :
Doctorate Degree in Counselor Education and Supervision, CACREP, and a regionally accredited program.ABD with degree conferral by January 2026 or before teaching assignment are welcome to apply.A minimum of 1 year of relevant professional experience in clinical skill development and gatekeeping in the field of CounselingCollege-level, online teaching experience required, with a strong preference for those who have taught online CMHC courses.Excellent communication skills and ability to relate well with students and colleagues.Active, Unrestricted Clinical Mental Health / Licensed Professional Counselor required.Preferred Qualifications :
Willingness to teach in-person at the four-day clinical residency on the Storm Lake (Iowa) Campus.Willingness to teach practicum and internship (synchronous meetings included).Supervision Experience.Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS).Application :
