Job Description
The Direct Support Professional (DSP) / Caregiver Float provides direct care within residential group homes in Eugene / Springfield and will provide support to individuals with intellectual / developmental disabilities (I / DD). This is a full time, permanent position.
This position requires a dependable candidate who is flexible in their schedule, works well independently, and has exceptional communication and decision-making skills. Float DSPs are adaptable and will have the necessary skill set to be able to work at multiple homes.
What You'll Do
Provide client care in a float capacity for schedules, emergencies, or fill-in assignments at designated residential homes (schedule for shifts subjected to change based on needs of programs, however schedules are given two weeks in advance.)Enrich and support the lives of our residents while maintaining a safe and healthy environmentProvide companionship and personalized care with respect and dignity while encouraging independence and self-care.Assist patients with activities of daily living, including dressing, bathing, grooming, toileting, and eating.Prepare meals and snacks.Light household dutiesProvide mobility and transfer assistance, which may include using mechanical lift devices.Assist with transportation needs for community outings, appointments, and errandsImplement positive behavior supports and de-escalating challenging behaviors when needed.Other duties as assignedQualifications
1+ years of DSP / Caregiving experience with individuals with intellectual / developmental disabilities is required.Must have valid driver's license & vehicle to travel between programs and provide transportation to clientsMust be able to work a flexible schedule (day / swing shift or swing / overnight shift and weekend availability required)Must be able and willing to learn different supports, from medical to behavioralHave a passion to help othersWorks well independentlyDependable and adaptableExcellent communication and decision-making skillsAble to follow written and verbal instructionsMust be able to provide references18 years of age or older (required)Able to attend two weeks of PAID in-house orientation and trainingAdditional Information
