The Maintenance Manager will report to the Plant Manager and lead the plant maintenance team to maintain, troubleshoot and repair the plant equipment.

Key Responsibilities :
Practice and enforce safe practices with department
Train employees on safety and best practices
Ensure employees are trained on job specific assignments
Maintenance of pneumatic valves on optical sorting machines
Audit plant performance at completing maintenance tasks.
Become a subject-matter expert in the operation and troubleshooting of optical sorting machines from multiple manufacturers.
Calculate and issue monthly fuel surcharge updates
Champions and supports Lean and Continuous Improvement Initiatives
Change belts and idler pulleys on trough-style conveyors
Develop and refine maintenance planning processes; and preventive maintenance program for mechanical and electrical equipment
Evaluate and ensure the quality of maintenance performed by internal plant maintenance teams and external vendors.
Identify plant performance issues and provide recommendations for equipment and design changes to correct them.
Lead plants in performing root cause analysis (8D process) of issues involving quality, yield, and uptime.
Manage company-wide system to track capital assets, life expectancy, and repair and maintenance (R&M) budget and costs.
Manage equipment vendor relationships with major equipment suppliers; global spare parts program; spare parts inventory – order parts as needed, determine and manage stocking levels
Oversee maintenance of forklifts and loaders
Part number administration and entry
Perform hands-on escalated maintenance troubleshooting and repairs; periodic preventive maintenance checks as required; basic electrical troubleshooting and repairs
Provide coaching, training, and accountability to plant maintenance managers, and assist in hiring of new plant maintenance managers.
Reportable Administration - adding new reports, adding users, report maintenance, managing user report access
Support Continuous Improvement initiatives; emergency repair process; provide plant managers and plant maintenance teams with first-line escalation support during equipment failures.
Track equipment status, redistribute maintenance and spare-parts assets, and expedite high-priority repair efforts to maximize plant uptime performance.
Supervise and lead plant maintenance team
Train plant personnel to assist in basic maintenance and PMs
Weld and fabricate, as needed, patch holes in steel chutes and transitions

Qualifications and Requirements :
480vAC / 3 / 60 electrical troubleshooting
3 to 5 years of maintenance experience
Ability to lead and direct the work of others
Ability to manage time and prioritize effectively
Ability to read mechanical and electrical drawings and schematics preferred
Able to work safely and efficiently
Advanced mechanical and electrical maintenance skills
ERP systems experience
Excellent communication and people skills
Experience with TPM Maintenance Program
Strong computer and plant controls skills with analytical problem solving and troubleshooting skills
Good communications skills – bilingual English / Spanish preferred
Industrial manufacturing experience preferred
MS Office required, including Excel, Word, and Outlook
Rigging of motors, conveyor pulleys, and other heavy components
Strong experience with mechanical conveyors
Strong welding and fabrication skills, i.e., stick and wire welding
Team player, able to lead and contribute to a team effort
Education
High school diploma, or equivalent, required
3-5 years of Supervisory experience
Lean Manufacturing experience, 5s, and / or Six Sigma certification a plus
College Degree or technical training, preferred
Working Conditions :
Will be exposed to dusty and noisy conditions periodically
A mixture of light, moderate and heavy physical activity
Physical Requirements :
Ability to occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds. 50 % bend, stoop, twist, reach, and climb steps. Up to 75% walking or standing required. Employee is regularly required to use hands to troubleshoot equipment, and large and small mechanical parts, regular fine hand manipulation, and may be required to write and type on a computer keyboard.
