Overview
Electrical Studies Engineer – US-GA-Kennesaw (HQ). The role is part of a team of subject matter experts focused on electrical power system studies and problem-solving for design modification challenges across multiple industries, including Nuclear Services, Federal Services, Energy, Power Delivery, Transmission, and Data Centers. Opportunities range from mid-level engineering to principal leadership roles, with training and resources for growth and career advancement. This position can be based out of our Headquarters in Kennesaw, GA. Other office locations will be considered for senior engineers.
Responsibilities
- Electrical Studies & Design
Develop electrical studies and design recommendations covering small to large-scale power systems for generation, manufacturing, data centers or similar facilities. Provide recommendations based on expertise in power systems equipment and results of systems studies
Quality AssurancePerform quality reviews for calculations, studies / evaluations, software models, designs, drawings, and data prepared by other engineers or subcontractors. Maintain quality, schedule, and budget for assigned tasks with minimal supervision
Leadership & MentorshipDirect and oversee routine and advanced technical work performed by others on assigned projects. Provide mentorship to junior engineers using obtained engineering knowledge
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited universityMid-Level requires 3+ years of experience performing electrical studiesSenior Level requires 7+ years of experience performing electrical studiesExperience evaluating large scale power systems following industry accepted electrical codes and standards such as NEC, IEEE, IEC, and NERCProficiency in understanding highly technical topics in the field of electrical engineering using textbooks, white papers, and industry studies as basis and guidanceExperience performing studies such as load flow, short circuit, arc flash, equipment protection, sequence of operation, and transient stabilityExperience developing device setpoints for topics such as overcurrent, over / undervoltage, over / underfrequency, differential protection, distance relaying, or V / Hz protectionAbility and willingness to investigate new industry problems and provide creative solutionsExperience using power system analysis software such as ETAP, SKM, EMTP-RV, or PSCADAbility to be an individual contributor and work effectively in teamsAdvanced proficiency in Word and ExcelExcellent writing, presentation, and communication skillsExperience working in the nuclear power industry preferredExperience in power systems design responsibilities is a plus (e.g., equipment specification, procurement, implementation, drawing development, etc.)Experience using scripting to manipulate and parse data using Python, VBA, C++, or similar is a plusMS in a relevant topic of Electrical Engineering is a plusMaintain an active PE license or plan to obtain in the near futureAdditional Information
