Contract Details :

Position Type : Contract

Contract Duration : 5 months, 1 week

Pay Rate : $20 – $22 / hour

Shift / Hours : Monday – Friday, 11 : 00 PM – 7 : 00 AM PST

(Rotational Saturdays, second day off TBD)

Job Summary

As a Pre-Analytical Assistant , you’ll perform general support functions for the Technical Operations Department , including specimen handling, sorting, racking, centrifugation , and sample delivery. This role is key to supporting the clinical laboratory’s efficiency and quality standards by ensuring samples are prepared accurately and on time.

Key Responsibilities

Sort, rack, and transport specimens to the lab

Centrifuge and aliquot specimens as required

Identify issues with specimen types or missing information and escalate as needed

Maintain compliance with test ordering regulations

Perform specimen storage and retrieval

Execute manual tasks with accuracy and timeliness

Complete training and demonstrate job proficiency within 6 months

Record and complete required documentation accurately

Maintain cleanliness and compliance with 5S standards

Handle biohazard materials and follow PPE requirements

Lift up to 50 lbs and maneuver large carts / racks

Work with internal systems including translation tables, mainframes, and directories

Support Tech Ops and Specimen Processing during coworker absences

Perform other duties as assigned

Required Experience

High school diploma or GED

Comfortable working overnight shifts and rotational weekends

Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced, production setting

Effective verbal and written communication skills

Demonstrates good judgment and adaptability to change

Physically able to lift, stand, and maneuver in lab environments

Nice-to-Have Experience

Medical background with knowledge of clinical lab terminology

Previous work in a production or laboratory setting

Familiarity with mainframe computer systems
