Redmond Spokesman - Editor / Reporter

The Redmond Spokesman, a weekly newspaper based in Redmond, Oregon, is seeking an editor / reporter.

Redmond - population 36,000 - prides itself as an independent, innovative community that is seeing rapid growth in high-tech businesses and family housing in Central Oregon. We need a strong hand to guide the digital and print publication.

The editor would be the face of the paper and become deeply connected to community issues, events and organizations. The editor will report as well as write editorials.

While the paper is a weekly, content is published digitally first, so there is a constant demand for local news each day of the week. Updating the website, , is key.

At least two solid years of experience in journalism or a related field is necessary to perform well in this job. The successful candidate must also have a deep understanding of how to use social media to reach and grow our audience.

Redmond is located in the heart of outdoors recreation that includes downhill and cross-country skiing, numerous hiking and mountain biking trails, micro-breweries and lots of live entertainment.

The Spokesman is part of a group of 40 publications in Oregon. Opportunities are good to advance one's career within the company.
