Public Works Administrative Assistant
This position is responsible for providing specialized administrative support for department operations.
Examples of duties include maintaining calendars, managing file systems, acting as a Notary Public, answering telephones and greeting visitors, setting up accounts with the Electric Company, managing accounts and contracts, handling purchase of driveway permits, managing complaints related to parking, composing routine letters, monitoring time sheets, creating procedure manuals, serving as the Safety Coordinator, overseeing invoicing, coordinating purchase requests, tagging and registering equipment, assisting with accident reports, overseeing monthly invoicing, assisting in preparing public bid contract documents, preparing agenda items for City Council Meetings, booking travel arrangements, performing debris monitoring functions, maintaining vehicle mileage records, and providing basic administrative services for the Utilities Department.
Typical qualifications include a high school diploma with four years of an accredited college degree, proven experience in clerical and strong computer skills, experience in dealing with the public, and good customer service skills. A combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities will be considered.
