The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) serves as a key member of the school's administrative leadership team, reporting directly to the President and playing a strategic role in ensuring the school's financial health, operational efficiency, and long-term sustainability.
Position Overview
The CFO provides strategic oversight and day-to-day management of all financial and administrative functions, including GAAP-compliant accounting, financial planning and analysis, forecasting, compliance, internal controls, risk management, treasury services, insurance, facilities management, food services, and the retail campus store.

- GAAP Accounting : External Audit Management, Financial Reporting Compliance
- Treasury Services : Banking Relationships, Financing Arrangements, Check Signing Authority
- Financial Planning & Analysis : Budget Development, Strategic Planning, Five-Year Financial Plan, Financial Modeling, Executive Reporting
- Accounting Oversight : Monthly Financials, Business Office Leadership, Payroll Oversight, Tuition Management, Internal Controls, Fundraising Oversight, Third-Party Facility Rentals
- Campus Store : Store Operations, Purchasing and Pricing
- Administrative Oversight : Facilities Management, Food Services, Compliance & Risk Management, Customer Service
- Workforce & Resource Planning : Headcount & Budget Planning, Workforce Forecasting, Resource Allocation, Metrics & Monitoring
- Additional Duties : Other Responsibilities as assigned by the President
Required Qualifications
Education : Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field; MBA or CPA strongly preferredExperience : Minimum of 5 years of responsible experience in financial managementSkills & Competencies : Strong expertise in GAAP-compliant accounting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial modelingMission Alignment : Deep commitment to the mission of Catholic education and the core principles of Santa Margarita Catholic High SchoolPreferred Qualifications
Experience in facilities management, food services, or retail operationsFamiliarity with Diocesan or Catholic school operations and governanceExperience with workforce planning and headcount forecasting in an educational or non-profit settingKnowledge of tuition management and fundraising financial oversightCompensation & Benefits
