Job Title : Project Engineer – Heavy Civil & Underground Construction

Location : Midwest Region (Travel Required)

Industry : Heavy Civil, Hydro, Utility, Geotechnical Projects

Experience Level : 0-2 Years | Entry-Level Role

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in interpreting drawings and specifications for field crews and craft supervision
  • Perform quantity calculations by taking measurements and determining percentage of completed / installed materials and work
  • Assist in the preparation of work plans and work packages
  • Assist in field surveying and layout work , including elevations, control points, and compilation of as-built data
  • Order and schedule material deliveries to ensure project efficiency
  • Perform material takeoffs from drawings, specifications, and contract documents
  • Perform basic engineering calculations and technical drafting to support field operations
  • Assist engineers / project managers with data gathering and preparation for submittals and transmittals to customers, vendors, subcontractors, governmental agencies, and internal use
  • Assist in maintaining basic project recordkeeping , including daily reports, photographs, RFIs, and memorandums
  • Enter data into the job cost system and participate in reviewing cost reports with jobsite management
  • Support cost tracking, job costing, and reporting
  • Assist in generating change orders and as-built data to be reviewed by the project manager

    • Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a construction-related field (Engineering or Construction Management)
  • 0-2 years of combined experience in heavy / civil projects (internship experience preferred)
  • Strong work ethic – willing to do what it takes to get the job done and do it right
  • Passion for heavy civil construction and problem-solving
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
  • Team-oriented but able to work independently when needed
  • Willingness to travel regionally for project assignments
  • Ability to work for ECI without requiring sponsorship for employment now or in the future
