The cashier provides fast and friendly service to customers, assists them with questions and requests. Operates a cash register and the duties which correspond. Package product, work with drive-up and / or carry-out. Replenishes product as needed.

Accountable and reports to : District Store Director; Store Manager; Assistant Managers of GM, Perishables, and Store Operations; Service Managers. Positions that report to you : None.

Primary duties and responsibilities include providing prompt, efficient and friendly customer service, smiling and greeting customers, assisting customers, operating cash register accurately, redeeming promotional coupons, stocking and cleaning shelves, and adhering to company policies.

Secondary duties and responsibilities include assisting store management, knowing code dates on perishable items, changing register tape and ribbons, and performing other job related duties and special projects.

Knowledge, skills, abilities and worker characteristics include the ability to carry out detailed instructions, do arithmetic calculations, understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions, and write identifying information.

No education or experience requirements.

Physical requirements include the ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force frequently, vision from less than 20 inches to more than 20 feet with or without correction, vision depth perception, color vision, field of vision, and ability to perform physical activities including climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, and hearing.

Working conditions include exposure to temperature extremes and possible dampness, equipment movement hazards from a pallet jack, electrical shock, and exposure to chemicals and solvents. This is a fast paced work environment.

Equipment used to perform job includes pallet jack, box cutter, cash registers, trash compactor, fork lift, calculator, telephone, intercom, cardboard compactor, copier, and fax.
