Position Summary
The Seasonal Research Associate will be responsible for assisting the Senior Biologist, Mangrove Fish Research Manager, and Wading Bird Research Specialist with research in field and office activities associated with the current projects being carried out at Everglades Science Center located in Tavernier, Florida. This is a full-time, 40 hours a week seasonal position monitoring prey base fish populations, submerged aquatic vegetation (SAV), and birds in the mangrove zone of Everglades National Park, Biscayne National Park, and the Florida Keys. Scientific responsibilities will primarily consist of the collection of fishes in the mangrove habitats of Florida Bay, analyses of fishes, surveying SAV by snorkel, assisting with shorebird surveys, and maintaining data accuracy in a database. Additionally, the associate will also need to work with and maintain physical data. Field data will be collected from powerboats, rowboats, canoes, kayaks, and on foot (wading).
This is a six-month seasonal position that will start October 13, 2025, and will end mid-April, 2026; with potentially flexible start / end dates.
Compensation : $20.00 / hour
