Boeing Test and Evaluation (BT&E) is seeking an Instrumentation Technician C to join our teams in Tukwila, WA or Seattle, WA. In this role, you will work with blueprints, schematics, technical manuals and bulletins, National Bureau of Standards, manufacturers' specifications, and oral and written instructions. You will be installing instrumentation, primarily strain gauges and thermocouples on all models of Boeing aircraft civilian, military and space.

Position Details

Role : Instrumentation Technician C

Locations : Tukwila, WA or Seattle, WA

Responsibilities

  • Receive work assignment from team leader or supervisor and obtain necessary materials and equipment
  • Obtain appropriate engineering drawings and test documents for the assignment when needed
  • Fabricate wire or fiber optic bundles used to connect test and computer equipment or test sensing equipment for data collection
  • Set up and perform qualification, bench, or automatic tests as required
  • Install fiber optic strain gauges, thermocouples, accelerometers, and strain gauges by soldering, bonding, spot welding, or mechanical fastening
  • Use a scissor or boom lift to access areas for instrumentation installation
  • Modify test equipment to meet engineering configuration as required
  • Select appropriate hand, power, and bench tools for required operations
  • Use shop tools and test equipment to complete work assignments
  • Write tie-ins and maintain records such as work logs for areas / equipment as required
  • Devise and / or build shop aids and workarounds to test or troubleshoot systems
  • Handle and protect components and assemblies per shop procedures and drawing requirements
  • Handle and dispose of hazardous materials in accordance with Safety Data Sheets and PPE requirements
  • Pack electronic equipment for travel as required per drawings and Boeing specifications
  • Check work after completion to ensure it complies with drawings and instructions
  • Present completed or reworked work for inspection as required
  • Communicate with team leader / supervisor / engineer / planner when assistance is needed
  • Maintain personal and tool certifications as required
  • Comply with tool control policies
  • Demonstrate required competencies and knowledge related to electrical systems and testing
  • Operate and interpret data from various test equipment and electrical systems
  • Travel up to 10% domestically and internationally

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications (Required) :

  • 1+ year of experience reading and interpreting wire harness diagrams and installation schematics
  • 1+ year of experience in electrical fabrication and required processes
  • Preferred Qualifications (Desired) :

  • 3+ years of strain gaging experience
  • 3+ years of experience in Aircraft Electrical systems
  • Certifications in Electrical (Crimping, Bond and Ground); Mechanical (Fork lift, Hand truck, Pressure / vacuum); or Safety (Electrical, Egress, Explosives)
  • Shift

    This position is for 1st shift or 2nd shift.

    Travel

    May require travel up to 10% of the time, domestically and internationally.

    Union

    This is an hourly position governed by the International Association of Machinists (IAM-751) Collective Bargaining agreement.

    Pay & Benefits

    Pay and benefits are part of Boeing's Total Rewards package, including competitive base pay and variable compensation opportunities. Eligible employees may enroll in health insurance, flexible spending accounts, health savings accounts, retirement plans, life and disability insurance, and time away from work. Specific programs vary by location and bargaining agreements. Pay is based on experience and market considerations. Summary Pay Range : $27.32 / hour - $57.88 / hour.
