Responsibilities
In your job, you will have the ability to make a difference in a patient's journey by :
- Determine the need for, specify, and access dosimetry and treatment planning equipment including measurement instruments to calibrate all treatment equipment and monitoring devices, computerized treatment planning systems, water phantom systems with ionization chambers and diodes, film densitometry systems, etc.
- Participate in the specification, selection, and acceptance of radiation-producing machines, accessories, and computerized treatment-planning system. Supervise maintenance arrangements for radiation treatment equipment.
- Evaluate all equipment periodically for utility, appropriateness, performance, age, and condition, and recommend lifespan, obsolescence, and replacement.
- Maintain responsibility for the design and implementation of quality management involving external beam radiotherapy equipment, and review procedures followed by radiation therapy staff.
- Advise and consult with physicians to provide guidance to technical staff during patient planning and treatment.
- Develop protocols for monitor units calculations to ensure consistency with prescriptions.
- Participate in chart rounds to ensure prescription fulfillment and review dose and patient setup changes.
- Complete documentation related to radiation treatment plans and equipment.
- Participate in clinical instruction of new radiation staff and students.
- Conduct HDR and LDR brachytherapy procedures as needed.
- Direct the radiation oncology physics program, including technical oversight of medical dosimetrists, service engineers, and physics support staff.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications :
Master's degree in Physics or Medical Physics from an accredited institution.Maintain certification and continuing education as per American College of Radiology standards.Complete ongoing education credits in the field.What You Bring to the Team :
Support and adhere to the US Oncology Compliance Program, including the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.Nucletron HDR planning skill and RAM credentials for AU (ir-192) in Arizona.Seniority level
