The Kitchen Manager also : Ensures that the programs are operating within budget. Ensures that the programs are serving nutritional meals to participants and participating in the Child Nutrition Program with the state. Ensures compliance with licensure and other regulatory agencies as pertains to food service and nutritional requirements. Models agency core values of integrity, compassion, commitment & justice to all internal and external contacts. WHAT YOU MUST HAVE : This position requires a high school diploma, GED or equivalent and related experience in food preparation and service. Associates in culinary arts preferred. Ability to coordinate purchases based on program needs; ability to effectively communicate with staff, vendors and volunteers; ability to maintain accurate records; ability to recruit, hire, train, motivate and evaluate staff; ability to operate within a budget. Must learn and apply agency personnel policies and procedures; Health Department and USDA regulations; and appropriate federal, state and local regulations. Must have valid KY Driver License- with satisfactory driving record; Must have the ability to be CPR / First Aid certified, upon 30 days of employment; successfully pass a Criminal Background Check and Sex Offender Registry Check RESPONSIBILITES : 1. Preparing nutritional menus and meals for Unity House. 2. Control inventory and budget. 3. Order all food and non-food supplies for the kitchen. 4. Ensure food storage complies with state, federal and / or local regulations. 5. Monitors climate control on all refrigerated and / or freezer units. 6. Maintain food service standards for the program 7. Ensure the cleanliness of the kitchen and cafeteria areas. 8. Coordinates and assists with all special events. 9. Supervises performance of work activities by cooking staff, interns and clients. 10. Maintains accurate and up-to-date records of purchase and distribution. 11. With the assistance of the Program Manager, hires, trains, motivates, evaluates, and directs staff. 12. Completes required paperwork, and all internal / external reports. 13. Develops relationships with food service employers in order to assist in the job placement of our clients. 14. Facilitates nutritional life skills class with the clients. 15. All other duties as assigned. 16. Perform other duties as assigned. 17. Maintain a current CPR and First Aid certificate 18. Ensure that staff / clients have sufficient supplies. 19. Deals with incidents of low performance Kitchen staff as outlined in agency policy and procedures. 20.
