American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med / Surg Telemetry position working with oncology and observation patients requiring an active OH or compact RN license and at least 2 years of relevant experience.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in an observation unit focused on Med / Surg, Telemetry, and oncology patientsPatients include those with dehydration, electrolyte abnormalities, nausea / vomiting, chemo / radiation symptom management, AKI, pain control, UTIs, and post-procedure careTypical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1 : 4 with a charge RN in the assignmentNight shift schedule with 3x12 hour shifts (19 : 00-07 : 30)May occasionally float to the ED to care for Med / Surg Tele patients awaiting transfer, with orientation providedUnit uses telemetry monitoring and manages short stay observation patients, with care expected to last less than two midnightsRNs will provide care for oncology and observation patients with a range of medical and post-procedure needsTeam structure includes RNs, PCAs, UCAs, APPs, and supervising MDsNavy blue or white scrubs required; scrubs are not providedOrientation to any floating unit will be providedLocals are accepted at the same rate as travelersReturn to work eligibility for former employees requires a 6 month separationCurrent employees at any Ohio State University hospital location are not eligible for travel positionsTime off requests must be submitted with initial application\n \n Requirements\n
Active OH or compact RN license in hand at time of considerationGraduation from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program requiredMinimum of 2 years recent Med / Surg Telemetry experience requiredBCLS certification required; ACLS and OCN preferredProficiency in telemetry, dysrhythmia interpretation, IV starts, and PICC line management necessaryTwo professional references required, one from a manager / director or formal leaderFirst-time travelers accepted\n Benefits\n
