American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an ICU / PCU travel position requiring prior travel experience and strong skills with stroke and cardiac patients.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in both ICU and PCU / Tele units within a hospital environmentPatient diagnoses include CHF, stroke, sepsis, cardiac dysrhythmias, pneumonia, diabetes, respiratory issues, and high flow oxygen casesICU has 12 beds with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1 : 2; PCU / Tele has 36 beds (20 semi-private rooms) with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1 : 4RN will provide care for patients using vents, drips (sedation, vasoactive), and manage stroke protocols using NIHSS and thrombolyticsCommon titratable drips include vasopressors, antihypertensives, amiodarone, Cardizem, insulin, heparin, esmolol, argatroban, fentanyl, propofol, precedex, and versedUtilizes servo ventilators, CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen equipment12-hour day shifts from 7a-7p with no on-call or holiday requirementsTravelers are required to float first and may take full assignments up to 4 patientsCharge RN is present on each shift and rarely takes patient assignmentsCharge nurse responds to all inpatient MSETS and Rapid Response callsTeam includes a free-floating resource nurse per shift and respiratory therapy assistance is available when neededUnit / department orientation includes 2 to 3 shifts with a preceptorNavy blue scrubs are required for this assignmentNo holiday or on-call coverage is requiredFirst time travelers will not be considered for this position\n \n Requirements\n
Active RN license valid in VA or compact stateMinimum 2 years of recent ICU and PCU / telemetry experience requiredPrior travel RN experience requiredAbility to read and interpret cardiac rhythmsCertifications required : BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), and NIHSSStroke patient care experience using NIHSS is mandatoryExperience managing and titrating drips and caring for vented patients required\n Benefits\n
