Position Summary :
Under the direction of the Chief Engineer, the Assistant Engineer is responsible for the preparation, operation, and maintenance of all vessel machinery and systems throughout the voyage.

Education :
High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) or higher.
Experience :
Proficiencies in Word, Excel, Outlook, and maintenance software, with experience in towing vessels, Caterpillar or Wartsila engines, Kongsberg DP systems, and vessel management software preferred.
Reporting and Supervision :
Reports to the Chief Engineer and / or Master. May oversee other engineering personnel.
Compensation and Travel :
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions :
Work both indoors and outdoors, exposed to varying temperatures, odors, dust, hazards, noise, and potentially dangerous equipment. Must meet the 719K physical standard and be able to climb ladders and access restricted areas.
Other Requirements :
Must work in a drug-free environment, free from mind-altering substances during working hours.
