Job Title : Chemist I

Location : 11530 Northlake Drive, Cincinnati, OH 45249 - Day Shift (Flexible, but typically 8 : 00 am 4 : 30 pm)

Duration : 6+ Months Contract

Payrate : $27 / hr on W2.

Assignment Information

Hours per week : 40

Start date : ASAP

Duration of assignment : 6 Months+

Onsite Position / Hybrid / Remote? Onsite

Worksite location : Cincinnati

What are the shift hours? Day Shift (Flexible, but typically 8 : 00 4 : 30)

OSHA PPE? All PPE will be provided (lab coat, safety glasses, gloves, etc.)

Site-specific training? Experience working in a lab with flammable / hazardous chemicals Support the analytical team by preparing samples and collecting data using a variety of methods and equipment. Maintaining a safe working environment.

SUMMARY

Evaluates the chemical properties of polymeric substances for a research and development facility.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following :

  • Sample & standard preparations, chemical extraction, GC and / or HPLC.
  • Other Duties in other analytical areas may be assigned.
  • Preparation of plastic samples (pellets, films, parts, etc.) for microscopy analysis (optical, SEM, etc) and other rheology, thermal, and spectroscopy analytical tests. Independently practices applying principles in discipline of competency.
  • Demonstrates a continuing consciousness of safety in daily activities, and implemented in work designed.
  • Works under general supervision. Supports field assignments as required. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
  • QUALIFICATIONS :

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE :

  • Associate degree or higher, or equivalent job experience.
  • Minimum of 1-4 years experience in the industry or in a related field or approval by the Program Director.
  • LANGUAGE SKILLS :

  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • MATHEMATICAL SKILLS :

  • Ability to apply mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations.
  • Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
  • COMPUTER SKILLS :

  • Must be cognizant of the capabilities and limitations of various computer software packages and automated engineering and design equipment to effectively direct their use for diverse engineering assignments.
  • REASONING ABILITY :

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral and diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
