Overview
Research Compliance Consultant at Indiana University – The Indiana University (IU) Human Research Protection Program (HRPP), within the Office for Research Compliance, ensures that human subject research at IU campuses and affiliated hospitals is conducted in an ethically compliant manner. The IU Institutional Review Boards (IRBs) are supported by the IU Human Subjects Office (HSO), which may provide guidance on whether an activity requires IRB review.
Responsibilities
- Conducts complex and detailed risk analysis of research proposals to evaluate compliance with university policies, state, and federal regulations; reports findings to Research Compliance Committees (IRB, IACUCs, IBCs, etc.).
- Develops and implements complex project plans ensuring alignment with current and new regulations and university compliance policies.
- Manages project plans, including maintenance of program documentation, training, monitoring, and auditing.
- Collaborates with research and operational stakeholders at IU to identify compliance gaps, mitigate risks, and implement project plans.
- Continuously monitors regulatory changes and assesses their impact on the research community.
- Serves on committees to advise and make recommendations to committee members, chairs, university counsel, senior administrators, faculty investigators, and affiliated institutions as they relate to research.
- Develops and conducts training programs and conferences regarding research for committee members, faculty investigators, administrators, and staff.
- May lead major projects / initiatives and provide guidance to junior-level peers.
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor's degree (preferably in related field)Preferred
Master's degree in related fieldWork Experience
5 years of experience in research compliance or regulatory experience, including high-level interactions with government agencies, faculty, and staffLicenses and Certificates
Certification for Institutional Review Board Professionals (CIP) upon date of hire; ORCertified Professional in IACUC Administration (CPIA) within 2 years from date of hireSkills

Location : Indianapolis, Indiana
Salary : $55,000 - $72,000 annually
