Firefighter Paramedic
The Firefighter Paramedic will serve as a "first responder" for the protection of life and the conservation of property through combating and extinguishing fire. This position will administer emergency medical services as a licensed Paramedic in the state of Florida. Duties are performed in accordance with standard instructions and a well-defined routine under the designated Fire Officer and / or Designee. Work is reviewed frequently through observation. OCWFCD has a new 4% Retirement Multiplier with a 20 Year Retirement Eligibility!!!!!! This position will work a 48 / 96 schedule.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :
Demonstrated general knowledge of street locations, map reading ability, hydrant locations, topography, and types of construction in response areas. Ability to represent the District in a professional and courteous manner. Work under stress and use good judgment in emergency situations Analyze problems, identify alternative solutions, and project consequences of proposed actions and implement recommendations in support of goals Establish and maintain cooperative-working relationships with those contacted in the course of work Interpret and apply federal, state, and local policies, procedures, laws and regulations Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing Sufficiently wear / use any personal protective equipment provided by the District Ability to effectively use the District computer hardware and software

Meet physical requirements as indicated for State certification. Must endure sustained acts of physical exhaustion and endure periods of duty under unfavorable and life threatening situations. Must meet firefighter physical requirements as prescribed by the Fire Chief. Reaching, pulling, pushing, and throwing. Walking, standing, crawling, kneeling, bending, stooping, jumping, running, balancing, smelling, driving, climbing (including ladders). Lifting of moderately heavy (20-25 pound) items and occasionally very heavy (100 pounds of over) items.
