The Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranches

The Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranches is a non-profit organization that provides summer camp opportunities to Florida's youth. We operate three traditional sleep away camps along with a traveling day camp program.

Mobile Camp Director

The Mobile Camp Director has primary responsibility for supervising and facilitating assigned mobile programs throughout the state of Florida. This position must maintain good community relations with various organizations, including sheriffs' offices, schools, and community action groups. This position is expected to work within the philosophy, aims, goals, and operating procedures of the Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranches. The Mobile Camp Director is directly supervised by the Director of Camping Services. This position is not eligible for overtime pay.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The following duties and responsibilities are given as examples of the various types of work performed in this position. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.

  • Design, deliver, and evaluate camp program that meets the needs and interests of the agency's target populations and ensure their delivery in a safe and quality manner through no less than five mobile camp teams.
  • Remain current with information on the developmental needs of youth.
  • Annually seek and analyze input from youth, staff, and community partners regarding the quality, safety, and enjoyment of the program and staff.
  • Develop and implement crisis and risk management procedures.
  • Design and ensure delivery of programs and activities appropriate to the camper population.
  • Develop and maintain schedule of year-round programming.
  • Oversee financial management and assist in fund development operations to allow for adequate annual funding, and to meet long-term goals.
  • Develop and monitor budget for the mobile camp operations.
  • Negotiate user-group agreements and contracts with various agencies throughout the state.
  • Assist in the development and design long-term fund raising strategies for the overall camp programs.
  • Use good stewardship in ordering and maintaining program supplies and the care of agency assets.
  • Responsible for the stewardship and care of all vehicles assigned to the mobile camp program.
  • Design and implement a marketing plan to increase camper attendance and mobile camp contracts.
  • Prepare and analyze enrollment trends.
  • Develop and implement recruitment and retention strategies.
  • Work with the Donor Relations Department to provide marketing tools to Law Enforcement and Community partners to increase camper attendance.
  • Implement human resource management practices to recruit and retain staff for all camping services.
  • Assists in the recruitment of all camp staff based on camping program management requirements.
  • Hire, supervise, train, and retain mobile camp staff whether working seasonally or as PRN.
  • Monitors staffing usage throughout the year in compliance with personnel policies and laws.
  • Ensure that all licensing, accreditation, agency policies, procedures, and required documentation are met for example : (census, camper and family questionnaires, budget expenses, time sheets, mileage logs, travel vouchers, purchase orders, incident reports, and mobile camp data sheets).
  • Exercises flexibility and availability when faced with change and display a willingness to assist in any Camping Services program.
  • Assist in the on-site management of facility improvements and maintenance of the campus of residence.

Education and Experience Requirements

This position requires a bachelor's degree and a minimum of three years work experience showing progressive growth in responsibilities, a valid driver's license with a good driving record, and training as dictated by ACA and Youth Ranches policies. Job Type : Full-Time Pay : $47,840 / Annually
