Electrician Facilities Building Maintenance
Colorado Springs Utilities is hiring an experienced Electrician to join our Facilities Building Maintenance team. In this essential role, you will support the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems across our commercial buildings. Your responsibilities will include working with lighting, power distribution, and emergency power systems, as well as low-voltage technologies such as CCTV, access control, and fire alarms. You'll perform hands-on tasks involving wiring, hardware, and power connections to ensure the safety, reliability, and performance of our facilities. This position also offers the opportunity to work with three-phase systems and advanced security technologies, contributing directly to the operational excellence of our infrastructure.
A Day In The Life Of An Electrician May Include :
- Performing preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical systems and components across our facilities, including panels, breakers, lights, receptacles, TVSS, VFDs, disconnects, UPS, and generators
- Troubleshooting electrical systems and inspecting buildings and equipment to identify necessary repairs
- Installing electrical systems (e.g., lights, receptacles, circuitry, breakers)
- Assisting with the electrical needs of crews, including HVAC, general building maintenance, and plumbing
- Maintaining building equipment and providing technical guidance and expertise during facilities renovations and upgrades
- Estimating time and materials, designing builds, and researching the best and most cost-effective means to complete tasks
Who You Are :
Electrical system maintenance and installation experience in a commercial or industrial contextCompletion of an Electrical Apprenticeship is required; possession of a journey electrician license (issued or reciprocated by the State of Colorado) is needed, or the ability to obtain within six months of hirePossession of a valid, unrestricted driver's license is requiredLow-voltage experience in security, fire, camera, intercom, telecom, and access controls is valuedNFPA 72 knowledge and NICET II are valuedAbility to communicate information effectively to staff, contractors, electrical inspectors, supervisors, administrators, architects, and engineersPhysical Requirements / Working Conditions :
Exerts 50-100 lbs. of force occasionally, and / or 25-50 lbs. of force frequently, and / or 10-20 lbs. of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements exceed those for Medium Work.Positions in this class typically require climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
