About The Position

Must-Have :

Recent experience in ophthalmology is a must.

Experience in pre / post care or OR experience is required.

Description :

Surgery Center with multiple operating rooms performing elective and emergent procedures.

Focus on ophthalmology, including retina and cataract surgeries.

Additional cases include breast oncology and minor orthopedic procedures.

Staff works elective surgeries from 5am-5pm.

Evenings, weekends, and holidays are reserved for emergent cases.

Patient types include outpatient ophthalmology, orthopedic minor cases, and various breast and plastics surgeries.

The patient ratio is 1 : 3 for pre / post care and 1 : 1 in the operating room.

First-time travelers are accepted.

Support on the unit includes a receptionist and charge nurse during business hours.

24 / 7 support from hospitalists and on-call physicians is available.

Telemetry monitoring is provided at the bedside.

Floating to other areas is not required.

The technology used includes an electronic medical record system and various monitoring and medication dispensing equipment.

Call responsibilities occur during the week and on weekends.

Typically, a traveler will take call within a couple of weeks of starting.

Weekdays call are from 3pm to midnight; weekends are from 6am to midnight with a response time of 30 minutes.

Approval for time off is to be discussed with management.

Scrub color will adhere to appearance policy.

All staff cannot work more than 60 hours in a week or 5 consecutive 12-hour shifts.
