Overview
The Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH) Department of Neurology is seeking an accomplished physician scientist in neurology to serve as the Division Chief of Movement Disorders and to join the faculty of Harvard Medical School. The position prioritizes research and the applicant should have strong interest and demonstrated excellence in degenerative movement disorders including Parkinson's disease, atypical parkinsonian disorders, and cerebellar ataxias. The Division of Movement Disorders consists of faculty members based at BWH, Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital, South Shore Hospital, and at BWH satellite practices. The applicant will apply a background in translational neuroscience, genetics, soluble and imaging biomarkers and human stem-cell biology to lead a major biobank, the Harvard Biomarkers Study, and to develop a personalized medicine neurotherapeutics program at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. This research will be funded through a strong and diverse portfolio of grant funding, including but not limited to federal agencies, foundations and biopharmaceutical industry sources. The candidate will have responsibilities for overseeing the administrative, clinical, research and educational activities of the Department of Neurology, and will have responsibilities for teaching, supervising, and mentoring Harvard medical students, residents, fellows, and junior faculty. The Division organizational structure includes a Clinical Director who is responsible for ambulatory operations and reports to the Division Chief.
