Overview
Manager - Employee Relations & Welfare, Ballabgarh. Reporting to the Plant Head – HR at Ballabgarh, you will be responsible for leading, establishing, and maintaining harmonious industrial and employee relations to drive high productivity among associates at the Ballabgarh Plant.
Responsibilities
- You will be responsible for handling negotiations, disciplinary actions, grievance management, welfare activities, and recruitment of hourly associates.
- You will manage personnel administration including internal transfers, confirmations, and promotions.
- You will support the Plant Head – HR in formulating plant-level HR policies and procedures and ensure effective implementation.
- You will assist in long-term settlement and contract negotiations with unions.
- You will liaise with external agencies such as Labour Department, District Authorities, Police, PF / ESI, and other statutory bodies.
- You will ensure compliance with all statutory and legal requirements.
- You will monitor attendance, control absenteeism, and initiate corrective actions including domestic inquiries and counseling.
- You will supervise contract labour administration, including statutory compliances and deployment.
- You will represent the organization in conciliation and court proceedings.
- You will provide HR support to business and production teams in consultation with Plant Head – Production.
- You will interact regularly with production management and employees' union on day-to-day matters.
- You will oversee employee welfare activities including transport, canteen, security, hospital, and restrooms, while monitoring expenditure within budget.
- You will coordinate with Industrial Engineering and Finance teams to ensure accurate wage administration and timely disbursal of wages, incentives, and benefits.
- You will manage grievances of both hourly associates and salaried staff, coordinating with departments to resolve issues.
- You will support strategic initiatives such as plant housekeeping, loan administration (education / marriage), benevolent fund implementation, employee union elections, and merit scholarship functions.
- You will ensure proper interpretation and implementation of the collective bargaining agreement (CBA).
Skills & Competencies
You should have strong knowledge of labour laws (Industrial Disputes Act, Factories Act, and related regulations).You should possess excellent negotiation and conflict resolution skills to manage union discussions and workplace disputes.You should be proficient in grievance handling and employee engagement.You should have proven expertise in compliance management and statutory reporting.You should be able to build strong relationships with employees, union representatives, and external authorities.Experience & Qualifications
12+ years of experience in Employee & Industrial Relations in a manufacturing / plant environment.MBA / PGDM in HR / IR or equivalent qualification.Prior experience in large manufacturing setups with active union interactions is preferredGoodyear is one of the world's largest tire companies.
