Reports To : Director of Agronomy & Grounds

Supervises : Assistant Equipment Technicians (3)

Job Description : This position reports directly to the Director of Agronomy & Grounds. Is responsible for the coordination and supervision of the Assistant Technicians. Oak Hill has approximately $3 million in inventoried equipment that the Head Equipment Manager will be responsible for the maintenance and service.

Education and / or Experience

  • Prior experience as a Head Equipment Manager in a golf course operation or a minimum of 5 years' experience as an Assistant Technician in a golf course operation
  • Possess the ability to weld / fabricate
  • Vast knowledge of small engine repair / trouble shooting
  • Competency in electrical trouble shooting
  • Competency in knowledge of hydraulic systems and trouble shooting
  • Competent computer skills - primarily Word and Excel

Job Knowledge, Core Competencies and Expectations

  • Knowledge of golf course operations preferred
  • General knowledge of small equipment troubleshooting.
  • Understanding of reel mowers / bed knives, reel geometry
  • General familiarity with golf course and landscape equipment.
  • Job Tasks / Duties

  • Ensure the proper preventative maintenance (PM), repair, and setup of all the equipment in Oak Hill's equipment inventory.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive PM schedule
  • Assist the Dir. of Ag. in maintaining, developing, and achieving monthly and yearly budgetary goals as it relates to labor hours and repair operating expenses
  • Develop and maintain a detailed parts inventory that meets budgetary goals and equipment preparedness.
  • Maintain and promote a clean and organized work area that reflects the professionalism of the Oak Hill Country Club grounds department.
  • Supervise, train, schedule, and assign daily tasks for the Assistant Technicians, mentor and encourage growth within that area of the Department.
  • Work in conjunction with the Dir. of Ag. to ensure equipment readiness for cultural practices, tournaments, unexpected weather conditions, etc.
  • Assist the Dir. of Ag. in developing and carrying out the daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly goals of the Grounds Department.
  • Supervise all of the daily activities of the Equipment Technicians to ensure equipment readiness for all daily maintenance duties.
  • Assume that 75% of your time, daily, will be spent in a technician's capacity, while the other 25% will be spent in a role performing various management tasks relating to the position.
  • Assist in developing and implementing a short-range and long-range capital equipment replacement plan.
  • Develop daily, weekly, and monthly PM schedules that assist in achieving adequate equipment longevity.
  • Manage the staff labor hours and overtime of the Equipment Technicians.
  • Collaborate with the agronomy team to achieve superior turf quality and consistent playing conditions
  • Licenses and Special Requirements

  • Valid driver's license.
  • Positive attitude with strong work ethic and an attention to detail
  • Strong organizational skills and record keeping
  • CTEM preferred
  • Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions.
  • Occasionally exposed to wet and / or humid conditions; high, precarious places; extreme cold; extreme heat; risk of electrical shock; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
  • Able to meet and perform physical requirements and to work effectively in an environment which is typical of this position.
  • Frequent lifting, bending, climbing, stooping and periodic pulling.
  • Must be able to continuously sit, stand and walk for a minimum of 8 hours.
  • Must be able to lift up to 100 pounds and perform strenuous work lifting.
  • Must be able to bend, kneel, push and pull over the course of a shift.
  • All employees must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance per Oak Hill's appearance standards.
  • Will be required to perform job functions outdoors and be exposed to sun, heat, humidity and other elements.
  • Must be able to work a flexible shift that includes early mornings, nights, weekends, holidays, split shifts, and extended shifts.
  • Must be 18 years of age.
