Executive Director, Facilities Operations & Maintenance

The University of Miami / UHealth department of Facilities has an exciting opportunity for a Full Time Executive Director, Facilities & Operations to work at the UHealth Medical Campus. The Executive Director will be responsible for overseeing the safety, maintenance and the day to day functions of the Central Energy Plant and Physical Plant Operations to ensure quality service for both internal and external customers of the University of Miami Medical Campus and outlying health care Satellites.

The Executive Director for Facilities Operations and Maintenance reports to the Assistant Vice President, Facilities Operations and Maintenance for the University of Miami Health System and Miller School of Medicine.

Specific Job Duties and Responsibilities : Strategic Planning and Operational Effectiveness Work with the Assistant Vice President Facilities and Operations and Maintenance to establish short- and long-term departmental goals, objectives, strategic plans, policies, and procedures. Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness and implement improvements.

Core Responsibilities

• Advises appropriate managing staff of short- and long-term changes necessary to keep facilities in physical compliance with regulatory demands.
• Maintains documentation in proper order for state and local regulatory inspections.
• Advances and enforces operational procedures and best practices, ensuring staff compliance.
• Ensures all work areas meet quality, safety, and compliance standards.
• Ensures internal control oversight and compliance with laws and regulations, safeguarding of assets, compliance with University policies and procedures, reliability of internal and external reporting, and efficiency and effectiveness of operations. Creates an effective control environment, conducts risk assessment, implements and monitors controls.

Department Specific Functions

This position provides leadership and management responsibility over facilities operations and maintenance for medical education and research facilities on the Medical Campus in downtown Miami. Oversee approximately 25 employees and various contractors in supporting roughly 1.8 million square feet. This position is essential and considered a tier 1 position under the University Declared Emergency, Employee Responsibilities, and Compensation Policy.
