Golden State Peterbilt located at 1450 S Union Ave who is a subsidiary of E.M. Tharp Inc. is currently seeking Journey Level 5 Service Technicians for their Bakersfield location to join our growing team! This position is an essential position to the Service Department who performs expert-level diagnostics, maintenance and repairs on PACCAR MX and Cummins diesel engines, encompassing a wide range of systems and components. Utilize advanced troubleshooting techniques to identify and address complex mechanical, electrical, and performance-related issues and be able to perform major engine overhauls, including disassembly, inspection, and reassembly, ensuring adherence to manufacturer specifications and quality standards.

Qualifications and Skills

To effectively perform the duties of a Service Technician Level 5 individuals must be able to demonstrate several competencies that are essential to the position, which include :

Education and Experience :   Any combination of training and experience which would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying.   A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be :

Minimum of five years (5) of increasingly responsible experience in Technician work in a heavy / medium-duty application.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must regularly lift / push or pull / or move up to 60 pounds.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and / or humid conditions, extreme heat, and vibration. The employee is exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic chemicals, and outside weather conditions. The noise level is normally loud. Proper safety gear must be always worn.  A standard 40-hour work week applies.
