Overview

DSHS WSH Maintenance Mechanic 2. We are seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to join our team working at Western State Hospital. As a member of our Maintenance and Operations Division, you will assist the maintenance shop in performing HVAC, plumbing, painting, carpentry, grounds maintenance, and repairs. This job is located in Lakewood, WA. Pierce County employees are eligible to receive an Orca Card for transportation needs. Opportunities performed on-site at this work location at least three days a week may be eligible for an additional 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary. The shift schedule is Friday – Tuesday 11 : 45pm – 8 : 15am with Wednesday / Thursday off.

Some of what you'll do :

• Preventative maintenance and repairs on all types of mechanical equipment such as laundry and kitchen equipment; and air conditioning equipment
• Maintenance, operation, and repair of electrical, mechanical, and structural systems of buildings and utility distribution
• Monitor safety, fire protection, and environmental control equipment to ensure the building systems and equipment are operating in a satisfactory condition
• Respond to service requests and secure necessary assistance
• Take preventative and emergency action to control malfunctions
• Operate hand tools, power tools, and other shop equipment
• Work from plans, sketches, or drawings
• Estimate materials for completion of the job
