Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) to provide essential respiratory therapy services within a correctional facility in Stockton, CA. The RCP will assess, treat, and manage patients with respiratory and cardiopulmonary disorders under the direction of a physician, ensuring safe, effective, and ethical care in a secure healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities
Perform comprehensive respiratory assessments, including pulmonary function testing and arterial blood gas analysis.
Administer respiratory therapies such as oxygen therapy, aerosolized medications, chest physiotherapy, and ventilator support.
Operate, monitor, and maintain respiratory therapy equipment (e.g., ventilators, nebulizers, CPAP / BiPAP).
Respond to respiratory emergencies and assist with intubation and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
Collaborate with medical and nursing staff to develop and implement individualized care plans.
Document patient care and outcomes accurately in the electronic medical record (VISTA or similar systems).
Educate patients on respiratory care plans, equipment use, and disease management.
Maintain equipment safety, cleanliness, and compliance with infection control standards.
Qualifications
Schedule :
Night and morning shift 5 / 8s : Mon-Thurs 1 : 30pm-10 : 00pm and Sun 8 : 30am-5 : 00pm
Education :
Associate’s degree in Respiratory Therapy from an accredited program (AMA or CoARC-approved).
Bachelor’s degree preferred for advanced roles.
Licensure & Certification :
Current California Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license.
RRT or CRT credential from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
BLS certification (American Heart Association).
ACLS, PALS, and / or NRP preferred or required within 1–2 years of hire.
Experience :
Minimum 3 years of respiratory care experience in acute, critical, or correctional healthcare settings preferred.
Strong ability to perform independently and make clinical decisions in a high-security environment.
Skills & Competencies

Strong critical thinking and emergency response skills.
Excellent communication and collaboration with multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
Ability to work safely and effectively in a correctional setting.
Proficient in electronic medical record systems.
