Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Aero / Thermal Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in fluid dynamics (compressible and incompressible) and thermodynamics. They will be responsible for the design, development, and validation of fluid dynamic systems, components, and devices using a variety of tools and software. The Engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure projects are completed efficiently and meet safety and quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Provide design solutions, concepts, analysis, and calculations for aerodynamic, fluid dynamic, and thermodynamic systems utilized in ground test facilities
- Support marketing quotations with trade-offs, analyses, and recommendations for optimal and cost-effective solutions
- Perform aerodynamic field surveys of existing facilities and prepare and perform commissioning and validation activities for new or upgraded facilities and components
- Assist in selecting and specifying process equipment for various customer facilities
- Develop and present technical information in customer meetings and design reviews
- Willing to travel for design reviews, conferences, site surveys, and commissioning
Education
Bachelor's or master's degree in aerodynamics, aeronautics, aeroacoustic, heat transfer or related disciplineExperience
7+ years of related experience, with a focus on aerospace, hypersonic systems, or test facility designSolid background in the principles of aerodynamics, thermodynamics, and heat transferStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsUnderstanding of wind tunnel low to supersonic airflows, heat exchanger, combustion, CFD, hot wire anemometry, optical measurement methods (such as shadow-graph, Schlieren, PSP, PIV, LDV) or other related technologyExcellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical concepts to diverse stakeholdersMust be a self-starter, able to work on multiple projects, and prioritize workloadDemonstrated interpersonal skills and positive attitudeAble to work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary teamDue to U.S. State Department restrictions on access to technology, candidates must be "U.S. Persons" as defined by ITAR
