Jackson Memorial is an accredited, tertiary teaching hospital with 1,500 licensed beds, where nearly every medical specialty is provided by some of the world's most skilled and highly regarded multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals.\n\nSummary\n\nThe Enterostomal Therapist aids hospital staff and physicians in the care of patients with stomas, draining wounds, fistulae, incontinence, or potential or actual tissue trauma. Manages patients with post-operative surgical wounds requiring packing or negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT), pressure ulcers and vascular ulcers. Provides support and education to patients and their families, including pre and post-operative teaching, wound care, ostomy care, and ostomy appliance maintenance / trouble-shooting.\n\nResponsibilities\n
- Provides acute and rehabilitative care for people with selective disorders of the gastrointestinal, genitourinary, and integument systems in inpatient and outpatient settings.\n
- Provides patient / family education.\n
- Assists providers with examinations, procedures and other processes related to direct patient care and maintains appropriate patient documentation, records, and charts.\n
- Follows and performs all related unit specific policies and procedures, as detailed on the unit specific competency check-list.\n
- Utilizes job and unit specific equipment as required.\n
- Demonstrates behaviors of service excellence and CARE values (Compassion, Accountability, Respect and Expertise).\n
- Performs all other related job duties as assigned.\n\nExperience\n\nGenerally requires 5 to 7 years of related experience.\n\nPreferred Experience\n
- At least two years experience as Wound Care RN\n
- Certified in Wound Care\n\nEducation\n\nBachelor's degree in Nursing is required.\n\nCredentials\n
- Valid Florida RN license is required.\n
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) and any additional applicable life support certification for Healthcare Providers is required upon hire with at least 6 months validity and maintenance at JHS for the duration of employment.\n
