Public Improvement District Project Coordinator

Starting Pay : $20.00 - $22.00 per hour

Summary

Under general supervision, this position is responsible for administrative and technical oversight of Public Improvement District (PID) construction and maintenance projects. Performs administrative work related to bid procurement, contract creation and execution, project status monitoring, and invoice analysis; maintains a schedule of project contracts and agreements; assists the PID Project Coordinator in preparation of periodic reports and special projects concerning PIDs. On occasion, on-site field inspections and meetings will be necessary. The city of Amarillo may consider all relevant experience and education when determining minimum qualifications and establishing salary.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Coordinates and oversees construction, landscape, and improvement projects for PIDs within the city of Amarillo.
  • Assist in managing PID maintenance, management and consulting contracts.
  • Coordinates and assists with bid procurement, evaluation, and selection.
  • Works with the contractors concerning field change orders for the projects.
  • Provide directions to Construction Managers and Project Representatives on construction related issues.
  • Monitors the impact current and future projects will have on each PIDs budget and five-year service plan and update the PID Project Coordinator.
  • Monitors progress of service delivery elements through procedures and strategies to accomplish timely and effective utilization of available services.
  • Identify areas to enhance productivity through improved work procedures and practices, improved communication, and accountability.

Minimum Requirements

Requires broad knowledge of contract and project management. Prefer a bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Engineering, Urban Planning, Architecture or a related field, and two years work experience in a related field. A combination of experience and education may be considered. Valid Texas Driver's License Required.

  • Knowledge project management, contract documents and administration report creation.
  • Strong computer skills using Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams.
  • Ability to deal effectively with the public and handle confidential matters.
  • Ability to analyze, consolidate, and interpret data
  • Skill in communicating effectively in writing and orally as appropriate to the needs of the audience
  • Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail
  • Ability to learn new software and improve processes with existing software.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet close deadlines
  • Ability to handle difficult and stressful situations with professional composure
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions
  • Ability to exercise sound judgement in making decisions
  • Ability to operate basic office equipment including copy machines, multi-line telephone systems, and the like.

    The employee works in a safe and secure indoor work environment that may periodically have unpredicted requirements or demands.

    Regular Hours of Work

    Monday-Friday 8am to 5pm. This position may be required to work outside normal shifts including evenings, weekends, and overtime as necessary by the department.
