An internship or Co-Op with HDL Research Lab will provide you with development opportunities in an agile, hands-on environment. Extend your classroom knowledge as you gain practical electro-mechanical hardware experience, working closely with power engineering experts on real-world challenges.

Opportunities exist supporting a variety of efforts within Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Quality Engineering.

Because HDL is a hands-on environment, internships and Co-Ops are onsite only (remote internships are not available). Students must be able to reliably commute to our facility in Brenham, Texas.

Hiring for Spring and Summer 2026

Part-Time Internship : 20+ hours per week

Full-Time Internship : 40 hours per week

Responsibilities :

• Provide engineering support to the design, development, and selection of basic hardware components utilizing fundamental engineering principles, theories, and techniques.
• Perform analyses and compile data for review.
• Support the fabrication and / or testing of prototype hardware.
• Support assemblers, technicians, and inspectors for manufacturing issues.
• Develop or improve test fixtures, tooling, manufacturing processes, and other procedures for new and existing product builds to reduce defects and improve yields.
• Other duties and responsibilities as required.
