Astor Creek Country Club is currently hiring Dishwashers / Stewards to join our F&B team!

Astor Creek Country Club is located on the Treasure Coast, in Port St. Lucie, one of the fastest growing cities in Florida. The Club features a signature 18-hole golf course designed to provide a blend of challenge, tranquility and playability. Plans for the complete golf experience include a Pro Shop, 15-acre driving range, 3-acre short game complex, and a 15,000 sq. ft. practice putting green. The Club will also feature a fitness facility, sports courts, dining options, Sports Bar, and a resort-style pool.

Job purpose

Cleans cooking utensils, plates, cups, saucers, silverware, glasses, and other dishes. Collects garbage from various areas in the kitchen and transport it to waste containers.

Duties and responsibilities

• Prepares tableware for washing, receives or collects tableware to be washed, and removes food residue with a scraper, sorts china, glassware, and silverware, placing each in separate racks, or trays, etc. Heavily encrusted dishes will have to receive more attention in the way of scrubbing and soaking in order to loosen all material.
• Set up dish washing machine, ie. turn machine on, check soap, rinse supply, and ensure empty food strainers.
• Prepare glassware for washing, ie. empty liquids left in glasses, separate glasses according to size, by placing glassware in sectioned glass racks in preparation for them to pass through the dish washing machine.
• Dries and polishes glassware with clean dishtowels, sorting individual pieces according to type, if necessary.
• Clean dish washing equipment and working area.
• Collects garbage from dining room, kitchen grills, and other collection areas. Examines garbage for silverware and dishes.
• Delivers retrieved silverware and dishes to their respective areas.
• Cleans garbage cans thoroughly with hot soapy water and steam.
• Performs other necessary duties as well, ie. keeps record of broken dishes, sweeps and mops the entire kitchen floor and perhaps other areas, periodically throughout the day.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization in all kitchen areas as per F&B Manual.
• Complete opening and closing checklists as outlined in the F&B Manual.
• Conduct daily walk through to ensure the facility is safe and presentable and that courtesy and efficiency are being exercised throughout. See F&B Manual for guidelines.
• Protect the assets of the Club.
• Operate within the guidelines, policies, standards and constraints as established by Hampton Golf.

Working conditions

Work is primarily indoors. Potential exposure to sharp and rapid equipment movement, sharp utensils, harmful chemicals and / or being exposed to flying golf balls.

Physical requirements

Good organizational and verbal skills. Ability to use logical and rational thinking to resolve issues. Ability to perform basic mathematical skills, monitors and develops subordinates, visually monitor the operation areas, write and read member communication.

Must have the ability to perform moderate physical work and may be required to lift up to 40 lbs., up to 30 lbs. frequently. Perform activities such as bending, kneeling, crouching, climbing, reaching, standing, pushing, lifting and grasping for up to 5 hours without sitting. Ability to sustain aerobic activity for 20 consecutive minutes.

Please be advised that all work that requires the use of a ladder more than 8 ft. long must be reviewed by Hampton Golf's Club Maintenance person. Following an assessment of the situation, a determination will be made as to whether a maintenance team member or subcontractors will perform the necessary maintenance task. No other staff member is authorized to climb to heights exceeding 8 ft. and / or perform such maintenance. In addition, personnel are prohibited from entering facility attics, walking on the roof of buildings and / or from using scaffolding.
