The primary responsibility of the Digital Content Specialist is to advance Advents mission of making disciples of Jesus Christ by increasing and expanding its online presence and audience through the strategic development, creation, and implementation of consistent, quality digital content.
General Profile of the Role
As a member of the communications team, the Digital Content Specialist is a full-time role reporting to the Director of Communications and Engagement. This team member will be responsible for creating digital content to implement across a wide spectrum of communication channels including, but not limited to, social media, website, podcast, and email marketing in order to promote the ministries of Advent while supporting Advents digital content strategy. This role will work to share the stories of Advent by creating and managing engaging content like videos, photos, written stories, and graphics for the churchs various communication platforms to help expand Advents digital reach. This staff member will also help evaluate the effectiveness of the churchs digital content by capturing and analyzing the appropriate social data and digital metrics that help drive the overall communication content and strategy of the church. The ideal candidate will bring innovative ideas and also enjoy working in a team environment where collaboration and team brainstorming is vital. Other responsibilities may be assigned by the Director of Communications and Engagement.

Qualifications
Bachelors degree in communications, marketing, or related field
Exhibits the ability to create engaging digital content as well as identify and generate creative story ideas
Proficiency in videography and video editing, Final Cut Pro experience is a plus
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite
Ability to create graphics for digital content
Experience in creating website and email marketing content, WordPress experience is a plus
Proficiency in managing social media channels and an understanding of digital media analytics (Google Analytics, i.e.) in order to grow the social media presence of Advent
Possesses strong organizational and time management skills
Excellent writing, editing, presentation and communication skills
Fully supports the mission of Advent United Methodist Church and models our key values as a Christ-led leader
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience in a similar context
Working knowledge and application of current trends and best practices in the field of communications
