Fire Protection Engineer

Overview

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

About the Position : This position is with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Southwestern Division, Ft. Worth District with a duty station location of Fort Worth, TX, Little Rock, AR, Galveston, TX, Tulsa, OK, Winchester, VA.

Duties

• Develop / draft original plans, design criteria, design drawings, and technical specifications and prepares the design analysis for all fire prevention, fire protection, and life safety features of the project design work.
• Review studies, scopes of work, and preliminary and final design plans prepared both in-house and by A-Es; to assure the technical accuracy of those portions relative to fire prevention, fire protection, and life safety.
• Provide expert technical guidance on design to other personnel on the interpretation, rationale, and applicability of codes, regulations, design criteria, and other material in the area of fire prevention, fire protection, and life safety.
• Visit construction sites in the district to assist in the interpretation of the design intent for the fire prevention, fire protection, and life safety features of the projects.
